ShouldanyindividualdisagreewithTheWoodlandsEasternShawneeIndependentLivingElders
Complex(“Department”)actionsordecisionsinimplementinganyoftheDepartment’spolicies,an
appealmaybemadethroughthefollowinggrievancepoliciesandprocedures:
1. Non‐paymentofrequiredmonthlypaymentsandany
legalactionresultingtherefromshall
notbeconsideredcauseforagrievancehearing.
2. Tofileagrievance,theresidentwillhavetofilloutagrievanceformwhichincludesthe
followinginformation:
a. Dateofcomplaint;
b. Nameofresident;
c. Natureofcomplaint,conc erns,orgrievance;
d. Date
andactiontakenbytheDepartment;
e. DateandactiontakenbytheWoodlandsBoard(ifrequired);and
f. Datedcopyofresolutionsenttofilingresident.
3. GrievanceProcedure–Step1(DepartmentDirector)
a. Uponreceivingwrittennoticeofgrieva nce,theDepartmentDirector(ordesignee)may
wishtoinvestigatethegrievancefurtherbeforemeetingwiththeaggrievedresident.In
anyevent,theDepartmentDirector(ordesignee)shallarrangetomeetwiththe
residentwithinfive(5)workingdaysafternotificationofthegrievance.The
DepartmentDirector(ordesignee)maydesiretohav eoneothermemberofthe
Departmentstaffpresentatthediscussion,althoughthisisnotrequired.
b. TheDepartmentDirector’s(ordesignee’s)decisionshallbeconveyedinwritingtothe
residentatthemeetingorwithinten(10)workingdaysfollowingthe
conclusionofthe
meeting.Ifthegrievanceissettledatthisstep,nofurtheractionistaken.Acopyofthe
DepartmentDirector’s(ordesignee’s)decisionisretainedintheresident’sfile.
c. IftheresidentisnotsatisfiedwiththeDepartmentDirector’s(ordesignee’s)decision,
theresidentmayrequesta
hearingbeforetheWoodlandsBoard.
4. GrievanceProcedure–Step2(TheWoodlandsBoard)
a. TheWoodlandsBoardshallconsidertheresident’swrittenappealoftheDepartment
Director’s(ordesignee’s)decisioninthegrievancewithinten(10)daysafterreceiving
theappeal.
