PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
Student must have SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED ALL REQUIREMENTS listed below PRIOR TO APPLYING to the
Respiratory Care Program.
1 Application Form: For admission to the college, apply online at STLCC.edu).
2 Degree Seeking Status
a Official College Transcripts An official transcript from each college attended must be sent directly
from the college attended to STLCC-Registrar’s Office, 5600 Oakland Avenue, St. Louis, 63110 or email:
csr@stlcc.edu. Hand carried or faxed transcripts will NOT be accepted. For more information on

b High School Transcript or GEDrequired only for students with fewer than 15 hours of college level work or
those who have satisfied the science requirements in high school. Current high school students must submit
a final high school transcript before applying to the Respiratory Care Program.
3 Minimum Cumulative GPA: Students must have a GPA of 2.5 (4.0 scale) in high school or for 15 hours of
college work (100 level or higher). Students with fewer
than 15 hours of college credit must have both a
2.5 GPA in high school and 2.5 GPA in college.
- 2.5 GPA MUST be maintained while on the waiting list AND throughout the Respiratory Care program.
- GED Applicants: must have 15 hours of (100 level or higher) college credits with a 2.5 or higher GPA.
- STLCC students with at least 15 college level credits with a 2.5 GPA: will have met this requirement,
regardless of the GPA at other colleges.
- College transfer students with fewer than 15 STLCC credits: must have a cumulative 2.5 GPA in college
level credits earned at all colleges attended.
NOTE: Developmental courses (numbered below 100) will NOT be counted toward the 15 hours of college
work
and will NOT be included in the GPA for admission to the program.
4 READING PROFICIENCY: Complete ONE of the following to meet the reading prerequisite
Composite ACT score of 18 or higher OR SAT verbal score of 500 or higher within the last 3 years
Accuplacer (Next Gen) score of 263 or higher OR Accuplacer (Classic) score of 77 or higher within the last 3 years
Completion of RDG 030 OR ENG 070 with a grade of “C” or higher OR proof of completion of a 3 credit hour course
(100 level or higher) with a grade of “C” of higher from a U.S. accredited institution.
5 ENGLISH PROFICIENCY: Complete ONE of the following to meet the English prerequisite
Composite ACT score of 18 or higher OR SAT verbal score of 500 or higher within the last 3 years
Accuplacer (Next Gen) score of 250 or higher OR Accuplacer (Classic) score of 83 or higher within the last 3 years
Completion of ENG 030 OR ENG 070 with a grade of “C” or higher within the last 3 years
Completion of ENG 101 with a C or higher
6 MATH PROFICIENCY: Complete ONE of the following to meet the Math prerequisite
ACT Math subscore of 22 or higher OR SAT score of 580 or higher within the last 3 years
Place into MTH 160 or higher on the Accuplacer within the last 3 years
Completion of MTH 140 or higher level of math with a grade of C or higher within the last 5 years.
7 SCIENCE PREREQUISITES: Complete ALL of the following to meet the science prerequisite
Chemistry: Must have completed two semesters of high school chemistry with lab OR one semester of college
chemistry with lab (STLCC CHM 101 or higher) with a grade of C or higher within the last 5 years
BIO 207 Anatomy and Physiology I (with lab) with a grade of “C” or higher within the last 5 years

SCIENCE REQUIREMENT: The following requirement must be completed in order to enroll into the first
semester of the Respiratory Care program:
BIO 208 Anatomy and Physiology II: Must be completed with a grade of “C” or higher
When the above criteria have been met, students must meet with an advisor to obtain a Respiratory Care
Program application.
