COPYRIGHT INFORMATION
We follow Fair Use Guidelines to determine how much of a text may be placed on Reserve. We will contact you
with any questions we have about your request. We cannot place entire texts on eReserves. This includes, but
is not limited to: plays, novels, textbooks, and anthologies. (Individual articles do not fall under this rule.) Please
see University Libraries staff for more information.
If you have a photocopy or an electronic article that does not have a copyright page attached, you must
provide a complete citation, including:
Author, Title, Publisher and Publication Date (for books)
Author, Article Title, Journal Title, Date, Volume, Page Numbers (for periodicals)
The citation should be written on each selection OR you can attach a list of citations for all materials.
If Michener/Skinner Libraries own the same exact selection in another source, the Libraries’
source may be used. This allows us to comply with copyright law, without incurring additional
costs.
All materials will be listed in the library catalog under the professor’s name and course number. Within
each course, published materials are listed by Author/Title.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other
reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and special archives
are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the
photocopy or reproduction not be “used for any purposes other than private study, scholarship or research.” If a
user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user
may be liable for copyright infringement.
