Agricultural Buildings
Agricultural Buildings, as defined in the International Building Code: A structure designed and constructed
to house farm implements, hay, grain, poultry, livestock and other horticultural products. This structure
shall not be used for human habitation or a place of employment where agricultural products are
processed, treated or packaged nor shall it be a place used by the public. Additionally, the City of South
Bend recognizes that certain buildings used for mariculture are exempt from the full permit process. These
buildings shall not be used for human habitation or a place of employment where mariculture products are
processed, treated or packaged nor shall it be a place used by the public. These buildings shall be issued an
exempt City of South Bend Building Permit as long as the following requirements are met.
1. Must meet all applicable building codes
2. City of South Bend Development Application, Building Application, Planning Application and site
plan are required in addition to this form
3. Washington State Electrical Permits are required if application (L & I 360-575-6922)
4. One-story structures may be limited to 4,400 square feet in area.
