Allegany County
Solid Waste User Fee/Identification Tag Information
1. A valid identification tag allows a person to dispose of acceptable solid waste and recyclables at certain
Allegany County Solid Waste Facilities. Waste disposed of must be generated in Allegany County.
You must reside in Allegany County at the address shown on this application or own a seasonal
residence to qualify for a residential tag. If you own property on which you do not reside or which is
vacant land, you are entitled to a disposal ticket or may dispose of waste directly at the Allegany
County Landfill Transfer Station and pay the current tipping fee.
2. Three types of tags are available:
Residential Tag: is for the person who takes waste from the home in which he lives to a transfer
station or County Landfill. The fee is $250.00 and expires on March 31st. This tag is not prorated.
The replacement fee for lost/stolen tag is $125.00.
Disposal Ticket: is offered in 3 denominations which are $20, $40, $60 tickets. Each ticket will be
marked off by the transfer station operator to correspond with the price of the item (s) disposed of. No
residential tag is needed for this option. No refunds for unused tickets or portions of tickets.
Up to 13-gallon bag- $2.00
Up to 30-gallon bag- $4.00
Up to 55-gallon bag- $6.00
3. The hangtag is issued to the person completing the application and is non-transferable. It can be used
in any vehicle. Members of your immediate household can also use your hangtag.
4. Instructions for obtaining an Identification Tag:
a. Applications are available at all Transfer Stations, on the internet at www.alleganyco.com, or can be
obtained by calling 585-268-9403.
b. Mail application and user fee, if any, for all Identification Tags (cash, check payable to “Allegany
County” or Visa/MasterCard/Discover for any user fee) to the following address:

c. You can obtain your Identification Tag online at www.alleganyco.com or by mail.
d. The Town of Wellsville, 2600 Tarantine Road, Wellsville. Phone: (585) 593-1780 Note: Town of
Wellsville DOES accept Credit Cards; if paying by check at the Town of Wellsville, make
check payable to the town.
e. If you own property but your name does not appear on the tax rolls, please give the name of the
property owner that pays the taxes.
f. If you rent you must provide proof of your residences such as a utility bill, rent receipt, or driver’s
license that shows the street address. A post office box is not an acceptable address for
proving residence.
