FUEL TANK PERMIT CONDITIONS
1) Underground storage tanks must be permitted before installation.
2) Underground tanks removed must be permitted before removal.
3) A $78 fee will be charged for each tank removed and installed.
4) A site plan must be provided with the permit application.
5) Any tank removed must be tested for soil contamination.
6) Tanks can be abandoned in place with approval of the Fire Marshal.
7) All tank installations and removal must comply with the adopted fire code and NFPA
Standards pertaining to underground tanks.
8) Any leaks that result from the removal or installation of a tank must be reported to the
MPCA and the Duluth Fire Department.
9) Any contamination found in the soil must be reported to the MPCA and the Duluth Fire
Department.
10) The Duluth Fire Department must be notified when the tests are being conducted on
the installation.
