How to use this workbook
Each module of the care certificate has a resource book with all of the information you will need
to achieve the relevant knowledge and competency required for the corresponding module.
Please ensure that you have read and understood the content of the understand your role resource
book before you attempt to complete this workbook.
This workbook is split into two sections:
Knowledge
The first section is based on your knowledge of the subject matter. All you need to do successfully
to complete this section of the workbook is to fill in each answer box in as much detail as possible.
Once you have done this, you can move onto section two.
Please ensure that you complete the answers in the knowledge section independently and in your
own words. It is essential that you demonstrate that you have up to date and thorough knowledge
of each topic to provide the best possible quality of care to your service users.
Competency
The Second Section of the workbook is based on your competency and ability to demonstrate that
you can perform the relevant tasks to the required standards. To complete section two of the
workbook, you must work with your line manager or designated assess to achieve this component.
Please share the workbook with your manager/assessor and ask them to fill in the answer boxes
with an accurate description of how you have demonstrated your competence in relation to the
relevant criteria.
It is essential that only your direct manager or designated assessor completes the answers in this
workbook as it a mandatory requirement that someone with acceptable national competency
assesses your ability to complete tasks to the national standards.
